Today, we finished watching the film version of Of Mice and Men. We began working on a worksheet about the dehumanization of Lennie Smalls. Please see the attachment for the worksheet. This will be used to prepare for the final for this unit.

Today, we finished reading the novella and began watching the film version starring Gary Sinise and John Malkovich.

Today, we continued reading Chapter Five.

Today, we began with a quick write to discuss possible themes in the novella, then started reading Chapter Five.

Today, we continued reading Chapter Four.

Today, we completed a "No Excuses" practice and finished Chapter Three and discussed the events of the chapter. We then had a short quiz over the chapter and began reading Chapter Four.

Today we had a class discussion about what has occurred in Chapter Three. After our discussion, we continued reading and will finish Chapter Three on Thursday.

Today, we began reading "The Scarlet Ibis" by James Hurst. We started out by using the PAS strategy to preview the text and what we knew about it so we could set the purpose for our reading. Please see Ms. Matiscik for a copy of the story.

Today was spent in the computer lab finishing up the classroom wikispce wikiquest and creating blogger.com and google.com accounts. Please go to google.com and create an account, and then go to blogger.com and use your google.com login information to create a blogger.com account. Here are the worksheets to help you. Both the wikiquest and blog creation should be finished by Friday August 27th. An SSR book is due tomorrow. Hetzel

Today we were in the SMART Lab in the library learning about wikispaces and Mrs. Hetzel's online classroom wikispace that is located at www.hetzelclassroom2010.wikispaces.com.

We watched a video called Wkispaces in Plain English located at http://www.commoncraft.com/video-wikis-plain-english. Then we began to complete our first assignment which was the Hetzel Classroom Wiki Quest. Here are all the documents and worksheets handed out during today's class.
